I love American history. I especially love reading about our former presidents. So few truly stand out as exceptional, in my opinion – names such as Jefferson, Adams, Lincoln, Coolidge, Kenndy and Reagan certainly deserve to be held in high esteem. But one former president stands head and shoulders above them all – George Washington.

Most don’t know that George Washington did not want to be president. He had served his country for 8 years during the revolutionary war. He fought next to his men (unlike many generals who lead from afar). He inspired his men, time and time again during that war.

It was after the war, when he happily returned to work his farm in Mount Vernon. That was his dream – to work the land, to be a farmer. And then things started to fall apart. They came knocking at his door and said, “George, we need you, because the whole thing is falling apart.” I’m paraphrasing of course, but I think it that his response was something like — “Have I not yet done enough for my country?” Of course the answer was, “No.”

He went back to the capitol and he didn’t say very much during the Continental Congress and the Constitutional Convention. He didn’t have to. He was respected and loved.

He was a revered figure. He was a revered figure because he had already achieved so much – he was the hero of the revolutionary war.

After he served 2 terms as president of the United States, he retired, thus setting a precident that wasn’t challenged until 150 years later when FDR ran more than twice. They didn’t want him to retire though. They asked him to remain in office, so pleased was the country with his exemplary leadership qualities.

Perhaps, author, David Boaz can sum up George Washington best:
“He was also a liberal and tolerant man. In a famous letter to the Jewish congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, he hailed the “liberal policy” of the United States on religious freedom as worthy of emulation by other countries. He explained, “It is now no more that toleration is spoken of as if it were the indulgence of one class of people that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights, for, happily, the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens.”

And most notably, he held “republican” values – that is, he believed in a republic of free citizens, with a government based on consent and established to protect the rights of life, liberty, and property.

From his republican values Washington derived his abhorrence of kingship, even for himself. The writer Garry Wills called him “a virtuoso of resignations.” He gave up power not once but twice – at the end of the revolutionary war, when he resigned his military commission and returned to Mount Vernon, and again at the end of his second term as president, when he refused entreaties to seek a third term. In doing so, he set a standard for American presidents that lasted until the presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt, whose taste for power was stronger than the 150 years of precedent set by Washington.

Give the last word to Washington’s great adversary, King George III. The king asked his American painter, Benjamin West, what Washington would do after winning independence. West replied, “They say he will return to his farm.”

“If he does that,” the incredulous monarch said, “he will be the greatest man in the world.”

The path toward a paperless office begins with iDocsNOW available through Platinum Cash Flow Solutions. Our web-based document managment tool lets you convert paper documents into electronic images. Simply log into your secure electronic file cabinet and scan paper-files or print electronic documents. Then organize files by assigning a few index values to create a fully-searchable electronic filing cabinet – for one or 100 users or more.

Save Time

Scan documents once and never print them again. No filing or searching through folders. View documents without leaving your desk.

Save Money

For one low monthly fee, you can save precious time and focus on building your business instead of shuffling paper files. Reduce the amount of paper you buy and eliminate postage, photocopies, fax machines, couriers and off-site storage.

Decrease Storage Space

Electronic files stored on iDocsNOW servers are legally accepted as the original. Shred cumbersome paper files, save room and turn filing cabinet areas into productive space.

Decrease Operating Costs

iDocsNOW helps companies decrease their paper consumption costs with the ability to directly e-mail or fax documents. Using iDocsNOW online tools, employees quickly become more efficient and productive.

Increase Customer Service

By placing e-mail correspondence in the same electronic file cabinet as contracts, invoices and other documents, it will be faster and easier for your employees to look at client information concurrently. No more putting people on hold!

iDocsNOW Security

Perhaps best of all is iDocsNOW security, availabiltiy and integrity of their customers’ files. All customer data is stored at iDocsNOW secure, redundant data centers. 256-bit advanced encryption security (AES) is used at all times to secure stored-data and images. In addition, you receive a backup CD each month that contains the previous month’s data files. On a day-to-day basis, you can keep confidential information secure by allowing only employees with rights to access files by managing user access level settings.

Conclusion:

Less time. Less paper. Less work.

There is much, much more. Contact us for a free demo!

Most credit card processors can save you money, depending upon what kind of program you are currently on. However, savings can be temporary if you are on the wrong plan. Most credit card processors place thier merchants on a ‘tiered’ plan which doesn’t allow the merchant to optimize the actual cost associated with the Visa or MasterCard that a customer uses to pay. The merchant also doesn’t know the real cost from Visa or MasterCard if he is on a tiered plan.

Since there are literally hundreds of different credit card rates with Visa and MasterCard alone, it works to the processors advantage if the merchant is on a tiered plan. A tiered plan also allows the processor to raise their rates to the merchant disproportionatly compared to any raise in rates from Visa and MasterCard.

A credit card processing representative would be wise to place his clients on a ‘Cost-Plus’ or ‘Pass-Thru’ pricing plan, meaning that the processor charges a set amount over and above the cost from Visa or MasterCard. While the processor can’t control the costs from Visa or MasterCard, with a Cost-Plus plan your rates from the processor never go up. (Cost =Visa/MasterCard cost to the processor. Plus =the credit card processors profit). If you are on a tiered plan or don’t know if you are or aren’t, allow us to provide you with a Courtesy Credit Card Rate Analysis. Costs you nothing and you will have peace of mind, knowing whehter your credit card processor is providing you with real customer service or not.

I continue to be amazed..……at how some credit card processors treat their merchants. Many credit card processing reps take advantage of new business owners by not just charing them exhorently high fees, but they also tie them up in long-term lease or rental contracts for credit card processing equipment. This is equipment that could be purchased for a few hundred dollars but when rented or leased, the merchant ends up paying sometimes thousands of dollars over a 3-4 year term. And if you have ever tried to get out of one of these lease/rental contracts, it is impossible. The company holding the contract will pursue the merchant until they get the money that is owed to them. As a credit card processing representative, I have never even suggested to a merchant that they rent or lease their equipment. I make a fair profit when offering merchants credit card processing equipment for sale and I provide the services necessary to make certain the merchant understands how the equipment works and I always follow up after installing to make sure the merchant isn’t experiencing any issues.

If you feel that you are one of those merchants who has or is being taken advantage of, please give us a call. We can likely help you.
